Our story

What is Techies Connect?

Techies Connect (TC) is a Cameroonian tech community founded in April 2024 with a clear purpose: to create the ecosystem that African tech professionals deserve. We are a space where developers, designers, product managers, founders, students, and tech enthusiasts come together — not just to network, but to build, learn, and grow collectively.

In less than a year, TC has become a reference point for the tech scene in Cameroon — organising events, mentorship sessions, talent showcases, and community gatherings that have attracted thousands of participants across multiple cities.

What we're not

TC is not an NGO. It's a movement.

Techies Connect is not a traditional organisation, not an NGO, and not a closed club. We don't wait for grants or top-down mandates. We are a grassroots movement, owned and driven by the community it serves.

Our structure is intentionally flat and people-first. Every programme we run, every event we organise, every initiative we launch is designed with one question in mind: does this make our members' professional lives meaningfully better?

Why Techies Connect exists

The challenges are structural. So is the answer.

01

Talent & Infrastructure

Cameroon has talent. The ecosystem has energy. But the infrastructure to support, connect and grow that talent has been missing. Professionals navigate the industry without landmarks — and too many end up leaving. Companies struggle to attract and retain the right people. Entrepreneurs launch with no community behind them.

02

Recognition & Framework

Tech is one of the fastest-growing sectors in Cameroon — yet it remains one of the least structured. No collective agreements, no professional framework, little visibility in official labor statistics. The people building the digital economy deserve better definition — and better protection.

03

Builders & Visibility

The projects are here. The products are here. The initiatives are here. But they're not seen — which makes it easy to believe there's nothing worth staying for. TC exists to change that: making talent visible, strengthening what exists, and building the data foundation needed to advocate for real, structural change.

04

The Reference Point

For those just entering tech, still figuring out their path — TC is building something they didn't have: landmarks. A place to see what's possible locally, find the right people, and dare to dream without leaving.

Vision

A thriving tech ecosystem in Cameroon and across Africa — where professionals have the tools, the connections and the recognition they need to build, grow and lead. Where the next generation has landmarks. And where local excellence is visible to the world.

Mission

To connect, strengthen and advocate for tech professionals, entrepreneurs and enthusiasts across Cameroon and beyond — through community-driven programs, data-informed initiatives and collaborative action that moves the ecosystem forward.

What guides us

Our values

🫂

Inclusion

TC is open to everyone in tech — regardless of background, experience level, gender or origin. The ecosystem grows stronger when more voices are in the room.

🎯

Impact

Everything we do is aimed at creating meaningful, lasting change — for today's professionals and the next generation. We measure success by what actually shifts in the ecosystem.

🤝

Collaboration

We grow together or not at all. Knowledge, experience and opportunity are meant to be shared — not hoarded.

💪

Resilience

We know the road won't be easy. The structural challenges are real. We build anyway — because the alternative is leaving things as they are.

UN Sustainable Development Goals

Our SDGs

Techies Connect aligns its programmes with four United Nations Sustainable Development Goals that directly shape our activities.

SDG4

Quality Education

Through Workshops, Masterclasses, Outreach programs and Mentoring, TC builds pathways for the next generation to enter and navigate the tech industry with the right skills and the right support.

SDG8

Decent Work & Economic Growth

The Ecosystem Barometer maps talent, companies and working conditions across the sector. TC uses this data to advocate for better standards and drive economic opportunity for tech professionals.

SDG9

Industry, Innovation & Infrastructure

From supporting entrepreneurs through The Lab to convening the ecosystem at TC Conference, TC actively strengthens the innovation infrastructure that local tech needs to grow.

SDG11

Sustainable Cities & Communities

With active chapters in Yaoundé, Douala and Ngaoundéré — and growing — TC builds locally-rooted communities where tech professionals can connect, collaborate and contribute to their city's digital future.
